How many sharks are really killed or fished every year worldwide?
Q. Every time a marine documentary appears on TV they mention that sharks are being killed in millions, but who has the real and official estimates and how do they count? They say that we have already wiped out 2/3 of sharks populations, but does anyone really keep counting, and what is the proof? Just because that sharks don't appear in their spots in big numbers are before they might be migrating to other points where they can find more food or try to avoid getting affected by the change of the water temperatures. So who can really tell how many sharks are being killed or fished every year according to a real-time monitoring? I would appreciate so facts or references.

If you know where sharks tend to be according to water temperature, depth, presence of other fishes, etc. and you have statistics about how many of these sharks are found in these places and everywhere else... Then, if you also know how many sharks were killed, you can have a pretty good idea of how many sharks there are left in the oceans... Well, that's some ecology... statistics! They don't throw random numbers, there are hundreds of serious people devoting their lives to sharks!

A. Its impossible to give a real quote on the number of figures as the CCP does not collect any data on this, But the illegal trade does happen as shown with these links. At Liuzhou Laowai; the above person has nothing to do with me. Now, once you calmed down and stopped stamping your little feet maybe you can write something. Maybe in a more mature manner to refute the above, rather than acting like a cry baby and ranting. If you had bothered to have done an internet search using google "woman killed for ghost marriages in china" without the quotation marks you would see that the links I give are numbers 7 and 8 on the list out of a possible 296,000 hits. What is the nickname for the serial killer who killed the family with an axe?
